Juice Box
FROM ORIGIN TO CUP
Juice Box comes from Las Perlitas in Urrao, Colombia, where a group of producers grows Chiroso at 2000 masl. The coffee is washed and processed in cochadas: every four to seven days a fresh picking is depulped onto the previous days' coffee, homogenised, then washed together on the final day before drying. Most of the lot ferments in water, which keeps the profile clean. The cup lands on blood orange, rhubarb and honey. It used to be called Honeymoon. We renamed it once Honey Burst joined the lineup, since two honey names at once caused confusion on the packing floor.

Origin
Las Perlitas sits in Urrao, in the Antioquia region of Colombia, at 2000 masl. The altitude slows the cherries down and builds the acidity that carries this cup. Several producers contribute to the lot.

Varietal
Chiroso is a newer variety grown mainly in Antioquia. It has only been on the radar a few years, but it is catching on fast for its quality. Genetically it has been identified as an Ethiopian landrace, though no one can place it more precisely than that yet.

Processing
Washed, in cochadas. New pickings are depulped onto the previous days' coffee every four to seven days, the whole batch is homogenised, and everything is washed together on the final day before drying. Fermenting in water keeps the profile free of the funk other methods can bring.

Intervention level
This is a low-intervention coffee. Washed processing with water fermentation lets the variety and the altitude do the work.
