Privacy Policy

The data we collect, why we collect it, and the rights you have over it. Plain language version.

DAK operates two legal entities. DAK COFFEE ROASTERS BV is the controller for data related to the online shop, the roastery and wholesale operations: Nieuwendammerdijk 526M-3, 1023 BX Amsterdam, KvK 92174973, VAT NL865917292B01.

DAK SHOWROOM BV is the controller for data related to the showroom, retail and hospitality at Bellamyplein: Bellamyplein 16H, 1053 AS Amsterdam, KvK 94853479, VAT NL866914134B01.

For privacy questions and data requests, write to info@dakcoffeeroasters.com for the roastery, or showroom@dakcoffeeroasters.com for showroom-specific matters.

When you place an order: your name, billing and shipping address, email, phone number (if provided), order contents and payment confirmation. We never see or store full card numbers.

When you subscribe to the newsletter: your email address and the date you subscribed.

When you create an account: the above, plus a hashed password and any preferences you save.

Automatically, when you browse the site: basic analytics including pages viewed, device type, approximate location from IP. Aggregated, never sold.

To fulfil orders, manage subscriptions and provide customer support. The obvious things.

To send transactional emails (order confirmations, dispatch notices, account changes).

To send the newsletter, only if you explicitly opted in. Unsubscribe is one click and we honour it immediately.

To improve the site and the product, using aggregated, anonymised analytics.

Carriers (DHL and GLS, plus equivalents abroad where they do not deliver) for delivery. They get only the name, address and contact details needed to deliver your parcel.

Our payment processor (Mollie) for payment authorisation. They handle card data; we don’t.

Our email platform (Klaviyo) for transactional emails and the newsletter.

Authorities, if legally required. We do not sell your data, ever, to anyone.

Under EU GDPR you have the right to access the data we hold on you, to correct it, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to processing, and to data portability. Email info@dakcoffeeroasters.com.

Each request must include a copy of a valid ID with your signature and an address where we can contact you. We respond within one month of receipt; complex or numerous requests may extend this to two months.

You also have the right to complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) at autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl.

We use only two types of cookies: functional cookies (session and login, to keep your cart and account working) and anonymised analytics cookies (to count visits and popular pages, with no personal identification).

When you visit the site, we inform you about the use of cookies. By continuing to use the site you accept their use. Your cookie consent is valid for a period of thirteen months.

Collected data is used and retained for the period determined by law (order, tax and warranty records). After that, we erase or anonymise it.

You can request earlier erasure at any time (see Your rights above), unless retention is required by law.
